If you thought Kia was going to let go of the Stinger and declare herself finished with a sporty design, now there is that. The concept teased here has not been named yet, but one could easily think of it as a first look at a powerful new medium-sized braking shot, taking control of the Optima Sportswagon just like the Stinger is doing with the Optima sedan rather dull. Well, you would be wrong. While the concept itself may be a pulling vehicle, Kia says it’s actually meant to suggest what the next-generation Cee’d might look like.
The current facelifted model looks like the best cars in its class. The good part is that the 2018 Kia Cee’d seems even better than before. Kia definitely adopts Audi’s approach with their method, as they seem to make only slight updates when new models come out. The new Cee’d model seems to be similar in shape to the current generation. However, it is quite clear that the car is bigger, wider and lower. In addition to that, the front seems to be strongly inspired by the Stinger’s with a new grille and lighter headlights. The end result will probably be one of the most aesthetic sedans to be marketed on the European market. A high-end version of the car, probably called GT, is more than just a possibility at this stage.
Even though the car is still a few months away from release, its interior has been seen without any camouflage. The car is equipped with a steering wheel, dashboard and center console identical to the Sportage, which is rather impressive. The only real differences are the infotainment screen, which is smaller on the 2018 Kia Cee’d, the HVAC vents as well as the passenger area. The seats on the Cee’d also seem to be sporty enough for this type of car with lots of side bolsters.
The 2018 Cee’d is also expected to use most of Hyundai’s third-generation i30 engines, including a 1.4-liter aspirating atmospheric unit producing 100 ponies and a torque of 134 Nm (99 lb.). ft). Aside from that, there’s the turbo that goes from the 1.0 T-GDI three-cylinder to the 1.4 T-GDI and 1.6 CRDi four-cylinder.
The Japanese manufacturer will most likely present its golf competitor at the 2017 Motor Show in Frankfurt. These news are accurate at least according to autoevolution.com, but they also suggest that if something, God forbid, goes the wrong way could postpone the revelation of the new Cee’d for the Geneva Motor Show 2018. They have just started testing on this model, so everything should be ready for Frankfurt in October but in the worst case, Geneva remains an option.
Continuing, in terms of price, there should be small changes. The cost of the new Cee’d will go up because Kia is trying to add some of this premium to this model. They will do design and technological improvements so that the price can be justified. The current Kia Cee’d goes from $ 18,000 for a base model to $ 29,000 for the GT version.
