The 2018 MKT boasts a roomy interior that is easily competitive in space with other large three-row luxury SUVs. First- and second-row passengers are treated like members of the Royal Family, with plenty of legroom, head and elbow room, and a touch-screen infotainment system. The third row is not as spacious and should be reserved for children or smaller adults. You can replace the 2nd row seat with heated and cooled captain’s seats, and even equip the MKT with a refrigerator between them. The large windows give the driver and passengers unobstructed views outside, and the seats fold down quickly for a flat floor and generous cargo space.

Surprisingly, the Lincoln MKT, both bulbous and sinuous, shares its base and chassis with the Ford Flex boxy. While the Lincoln is certainly eye-catching, we’ll let you decide whether it’s nice or punishing the eyes. Let’s just call it “distinctive”, in particular the imposing winged grille, the strident headlamps and the bizarre collapse of the line of the side window. The massive hatch is gracefully barred by the long taillights. At least the hatch is powered, and we will admit that we love the large panoramic sunroof.

This year, the MKT 2018 is largely unchanged apart from some revised paint colors and new names for its trim levels. With a basic design dating back to 2009, the MKT is barely cool but its large wagon / low cross design is a good fit for passengers. The MKT is available in the Premier and Reserve trim levels. A 3.7-liter V6 with a power of 303 horsepower is standard, while a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo 365 hp is optional for the MKT Reserve. The base engine can be coupled only to front-wheel drive, while the twin-turbo is exclusively available with all-wheel drive.

The lowest-priced Lincoln MKT 2018 features a non-turbocharged, front-wheel drive engine with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of just under $ 44,500, including a $ 925 destination charge.
